We arrived Saturday and efficiently set up the tent before the kids wanted to try the pool. The water was pretty cold but the had fun on the slides anyway. Dad returned from the shops with food and, more importantly, alcohol before we got fish and chips for dinner. We've already bumped into a colleague from work and William made a friend who turns out goes to his school. Brisbane's a small place! Sunday we played tennis, went in the pool and discovered the creek side of the campsite (photo). The sea is warmer than the pool. In the evening, we walked over Burleigh headland to meet our friends to watch the amazing fire twirling and bongo drummers on Burleigh beach. Amelia was fascinated by Sophia who drove the taxi we caught back to the campsite - Amelia's first taxi experience!

Easter
Recovering from colds, we chose to have a quiet weekend at home. We achieved a lot in the garden - a retaining wall at the back - and enjoyed the annual Easter egg hunt with the neighbours in the street. This year the Easter bunny decided to make a surprise appearance too! Kids had a great time and a good haul of eggs to boot.

Close to nature
William found a praying mantis in the house so caught him to release back into the wild. He had to be played with a little first, though I'm not sure he (or Amelia) really liked that too much! Amelia did eventually manage to stop jumping around and screaming for long enough to have 'the creature' on her arm.

Amelia finally rides a bike!
After a long time of showing no interest in riding, Amelia suddenly took off on her bike without stabilisers. Amazing.

Camping at Neurum Creek
A hot and humid weekend camping with Christine, Markus, Erin, Mik and kids Timo, Felix, Mika, Charlie, Eddie and Sammy. Caterpillar racing, swimming, charades, marshmallows and more! It was too hot to do much more than swim, sleep and shoot the breeze.
