Wet-stralia

I thought at this period of the year, I'd be sitting here writing about how we've just had (another) wonderful perfectly sunny blue sky day, around 31 degrees, sitting around the pool, playing with the kids and sipping away on a Jim Beam and Coke.

Nope.

Not today. It must be the 150th day in a row now (bar one or two) where its rained. The prime of summer and I've just had to and put a sweat shirt on to keep warm.

Getting Hotter and Wetter

We're all a little stir-crazy at the moment. It's been raining for about a week, with another week of rain predicted for next week. Its all rather soggy outside and I'm running out of entertaining things to do with William on the inside (as you can see!). On the "new acheivements" front, William is sleeping without a nappy now and has been for a few weeks.

Amelia is now sitting by herself and rolling over (but not back again yet). In this picture, she is modelling an outfit from Uncle Tony & Auntie Arlene - isn't she cute? So many outfits....so little time!!

We are also very close to finishing decorating the lounge - we bought a dining room table and some new curtains, which has given the room a whole new feel. Just need to put up some pictures and it'll be looking quite homely. We are almost ready for Christmas - we have the tree up, presents bought and cards (almost) in the post!
William is waiting for it to snow so that Santa can come and land on the roof in his sleigh.......I fear he will be waiting a long time.

It's All Happening Here!

In the past couple of weeks, William has started riding his "new" bike which has pedals (see video clip) and Amelia has started reaching out to grab toys and has slept through from 7pm to 6.30am once (we're hoping for a second night). We can't keep William off his bike now and are trying to convince him not to ride it in the house (as we've recently painted the walls!). Amelia is fitting into the street well and loves being passed around all the neighbours. Though I think she is quite put out that she can't run around with all the kids!

Stickers.......

After leaving William and Amelia alone for two minutes, I returned to the room to be met with a gleeful, "I stuck a sticker on Amelia's heeeaaaaddd!!!" from William. I couldn't help but laugh and be thankful it was only a sticker - it could've been a lot worse! It's nice to see William including Amelia in his games.

We have all had bad colds over the last few weeks and are just now recovering. Two big things this past week are, William has done away with his dummy and is doing very well without it and Amelia laughed for the first time (at William and his silly antics). Amelia is over 4kg now and 55cm at the last weigh in (which was a couple of weeks ago now). I am thoroughly enjoying dressing her up in all her beautiful outfits, just like a real live doll...its such fun!

Check out the new photos under May/June and July.......

Time Flies!

It's hard to believe Amelia is almost 8 weeks old. The first 6 weeks (as with William) were spent in a bit of an exhausted dazed state. She has reflux which means she vomits a lot and she's constantly unsettled. It's only recently we've decided her middle name will be Grace, as many other names we liked or had family connections with didn't seem to fit. She is getting easier as she gets older and William is a great big brother and helps to rock her, put her dummy in and shares his toys. A big thank you to everyone who sent presents, money and clothes over for her I am getting around to writing to thank you in person - there's just so much to do all the time (the outfit pictured knitted by my step-mum Jo). Hence the reason the blog is only now being updated. If you look under the Gallery and click on June 2010, you'll see a few new photos too. I'll add more when I can. Bye! Lisa X

A Few Pics

A few days old.

Its A Girl

Late last night Lisa had a healthy little girl - all pink, perfect and wrinkly. Amelia was born at 11.17pm on 29th April weighing 3.275kg (just over 7lb 3oz) after an emergency caesarian. Both are doing very well and hopefully sleeping at the moment. More details later...

16 days and counting

The last month is definitely the hardest of being pregnant and I am looking forward to having the baby on the outside rather than the inside. As you can see, I'm getting larger and larger and my clothing options smaller and smaller! The volcanic ash from Iceland has caused havoc for my plans to spend some time with mum before the baby comes......we just hope she can get on a flight at all at this point. I'm enjoying not working and its giving me the chance to do some stuff around the house, plus cook a load of meals to freeze in preparation for the madness which is no doubt to come. William is aware "something big" is going on and is doing his best to test our patience daily, though I think (and hope) he will take to his new sibling without too much drama.

Easter was a quiet affair, but the Easter bunny found William all the same and left lots of eggs for him to find in the garden......I do believe he's a chocoholic just like his mummy!

Check this space for further baby news as it happens!

Rain, Rain, Rain

It's been raining here for the last two weeks, with hardly any let up. They predict more this week, but thankfully we've had a few dry spots in between. I've been starting to feel quite uncomfortable with the pregnancy and a bit tired, but not too bad considering William is keeping me on my (swollen) toes!

During February, I became an Australian Citizen, so can now get an ozzie passport. I had to go to a ceremony and say a pledge and collect a certificate - William was very good a clapping all the other people collecting theirs too. I also won a photography competition at work - the theme was "light" and I took my photo in the garden early one morning. I was impressed with what my camera can do (now that I've read the manual!). I was rewarded with a $250 store voucher which will come in really handy for buying some household and baby things.

Where did January go?!

We've had a busy time since Christmas - we've been swimming lots as its been so very hot (William's getting very good as you can see from the film below). I also took him to a Thomas the Tank Engine exhibition at a local museum - photos in the January gallery. He absolutely loved it and thought the Fat Controller was just wonderful. It was also Australia Day on the 26 Jan and we had a barbeque with neighbours and went to a festival/picnic in the park, which was good fun and my thrill-seeking son went on the biggest slide you've ever seen! Take a look at the film of William swimming in his new goggles at a local beach, though it might take some time to upload as its quite a big file!

The Bump

I've had a few requests for a photo of me and my bump....so here we are, plus William (who wants to be in every photo taken!). William is beginning to realise there's "a baby in mummy's tummy" and caused a slight stir when announcing there was also one in daddy's tummy (much to his dad's horror)!!

Happy New Year to Everyone!

Christmas is over for another year and we had a very nice (but quiet) one. It started with the opening of William's much anticipated presents in bed, then we had friends over for Christmas lunch (which extended way into the early evening) and ended with all of us getting competitive on the Wii (even the toddlers!). Thankfully, the rain held off for lunch, but its a shame it rained with avengence for the rest of the week.

We went to a BBQ on New Year's Eve at a friends house, but William was so tired by 9.30, we had to go. He wasn't the only one though, we ended up asleep ourselves by 10.30 - so much for seeing in the New Year!! We took lots of photos over Christmas, which are in the December Gallery.
